ABOUT THE SPEAKER - PHILIP EISENBEISS
Philip Eisenbeiss (CC’86, SIPA’90) joined Executive Access Ltd. (EAL), Asia’s oldest and leading financial search firm, in 2001 and runs the firm’s Private and Institutional Wealth Management practice. He is one of EAL’s 6 Partners and has consistently been top-ranked in the Asiamoney Headhunter Polls. Philip started his career in finance with UBS in Zurich, working for the bank for nearly 8 years in investment and corporate banking with assignments including Zurich, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He also spent two years in Thailand, initially working as an Investor Relations Consultant for Krung Thai Bank before joining the advertising agency Lowe Lintas in Business Development and Strategic Planning. He obtained both undergraduate (BA, History) and graduate degrees (MIA, Political Economy) from Columbia University in New York. He speaks English, German, Swiss-German, French and Spanish, as well asintermediate Italian and basic Mandarin.
Philip is the author of the biography of the legendary opera impresario Domenico Barbaja (Bel Canto Bully). It has since been translated and published in Italian and German. Naxos Music issued a music CD featuring selections from operas commissioned by Barbaja. Philip also writes about opera for various publications including Interlude (www.interlude.hk) and is a Board Director of Opera Hong Kong. A long-time Muay Thai enthusiast, he has lost every single fight, but believes Mixed Martial Arts, opera and headhunting, are all really the same thing.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR - FRANCIS DE LA CRUZ
Francis de la Cruz (CBS '08) has spent his entire career on Wall Street. He started his career in Investment Banking at UBS in New York, and has since worked in a finance/CFO track for Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Francis is now based in Hong Kong, and is currently a finance executive at BlackRock.
Francis started his career consulting practice, The Write Resume, shortly after school, in response to seeing high demand for resume, mock interview, and networking help from friends, friends of friends, and referrals on the outside looking in. This then grew into a second practice, The Private Placement Group, which he launched to focus on ex-bankers seeking to move into the buy-side. Francis is currently also an Executive Coach with the Career Management Center at Columbia Business School.
